Besides having a sturdy roof and walls it is the foundation that ensures your shed to be sturdy. Building the shed foundation is the first thing you will have to do to build your shed. When choosing your shed you will have to decide what type of foundation you will want to build. Will you need concrete or will it be a plain earth type.
If you go with an earth floor it really is not recommended because of the moisture level. It is also hard to level and hard to do the framing. But, if you have pole style barn sheds this would be acceptable. Some people are OK with putting down foundation blocks and covering with wood floor is fine as long as the floor is off the ground.
If you want to really make your shed be strong and sturdy and last then a concrete foundation is what you want. It might be more costly and most homeowners are not that familiar with handling concrete but over any length of time this is probably your best bet.
If you do decide to go with a concrete slab foundation for your shed you should know that concrete soaks up water and can possible add a level of moisture to the inside of your shed. A way to hold back the mositure is to add a top flooring made up of wood that is pressure treated.
If you do have a water problem where you will put the shed why not try to raise the height of the area where the concrete slab will go so that water will go around the shed and not cause you a problem.
By using whatever foundation you have planned to use keep in mind that it is imperative to have a level area and use good plans to help you build your shed.
